On This Day We Smile!

Welcome to day 2 of the Add Joy Challenge.

Let's welcome guest Beth to the blog. Thank you for being here with us.

What does joy mean to you?

For me, joy is a feeling of contentment coupled with a sense of uplift and inspiration.

The root word of inspiration means breath, and joy is like a breath of clear, fresh, crisp

air on a cool morning. It can be fleeting, but it leaves a feeling of warmth deep inside me

and a quiet smile on my face.

How do you add joy to your life?

I smile at strangers. If I’m walking down the street, or through the grocery store or mall, I

smile at people. It’s amazing how many smile back – even if I’m wearing my trusty mask

covering my mouth and nose, people still smile back. It gives me a lift and I like to think

it gives them a lift, too.

Today’s Add Joy challenge

If you’re out somewhere today, I challenge you to smile at people as you pass by. If

you’re not out in the bustling world today, I challenge you to leave a sincere,

encouraging comment on someone’s Facebook or other social media – a smile in word-

form.

Thank you, Beth! Please feel free to share in the comments, or use the addjoy hashtag on threads. See you tomorrow for day 3.

I’m Beth Stilborn. I live on the windswept prairies in Canada, and often look a little

windswept myself. I write mostly Middle Grade contemporary fiction, although I’ve tried my hand at picture books, adult novels, and hymn texts. I’m still working my way toward publication, except for hymn texts. Two are published. There is almost always a cat in my novels (but it’s hard to work felines into hymn texts.) I’m a freelance editor of kidlit as well – kidlit is my happy place.
