Author visits are 45 minutes.

Writing workshops are 45 minutes to 1 hour long. I find the extra 15 minutes allows students to share their work.

Grades 5-12 for fiction (short stories).

Grades 8-12 for poetry.

Writing workshops are best for 30 students and under because it allows for tons of interaction with students. Keep in mind the bigger the class, the less time for sharing.

For presentations in a gym or virtually, I can accommodate up to three classrooms. These workshops will be interactive but may not allow for as much sharing.

For workshops having access to a smartboard is best.

For visits a whiteboard or flipchart will work.

And a table to set things up on is always helpful.

If I'm presenting in a gym a microphone is appreciated.

Having water available is also a nice touch.

For 2025 I have set a flat rate to $200 for 45 minute session plus mileage (currently 0.70 cents/KM). No mileage is charged for virtual visits. Mileage is calculated from Onoway to your location.

If you book with another nearby library or school you can split the mileage cost.

Rates will be increasing in 2026. You can lock in my 2025 cost if you book before 2026. I highly recommend booking far in advance as I have limited availablity.
