We are almost done the AddJoy challenge. I can't wait to dig into Stephanie's addjoy challenge.
What does joy mean to you?
Joy me, joy is that magical intersection of gratitude, safety, and wonder. Each of these on their own doesn’t quite get me all the way to joy, but there’s something beyond words when they come together.
How do you add joy to your life?
The biggest thing that added more joy to my life was adding little glimmers throughout my home - a crystal sun catcher that refracts rainbows through the kitchen in the morning, a nightlight in the shape of a dumpling on my dresser, and art that reminds me how connected we all are.
Today’s Add Joy challenge
Gather random catalogs and papers around the house. Things that bring you joy or represent joy to you. It can be your favorite colors, animals, words, activities, foods, anything. Refer to it often as a source for ideas for bringing more joy to your life.
You can also complete this challenge digitally using an app such as Canva to create a mood board.
Thank you Stephanie. I'm off to play in Canva. See you tomorrow.

Stephanie Swilley (b.1985) is a community-taught conceptual artist living in Northern Iowa, USA. She lives in a world of metaphor, gathering input from nature, books, poetry, her experiences, and the world to bring the beauty of community care, diversity, self-love, and ecological respect to the forefront.
In her work, Stephanie endeavors to create something beyond what she sees with her eyes, creating in an abstract or abstract realism style. She hopes for her work to serve as a starting point in a thought process for the viewer - not the final destination.
Stephanie has a near-visceral fear of being boxed-in mentally, physically, or metaphorically, so she imposes no limits on herself, style, or mediums (though, she is partial to watercolors, collage, pastels, charcoal, and graphite). Her loyalty is to the idea and she follows the mediums and techniques where they lead.
