Suicide Awareness and Love Notes from the Universe

Updated: Oct 2

From Foster Care to Published Poet—A Story of Resilience for September Suicide Awareness Month

Hello, Lovely Readers!

In honour of Suicide Prevention Month this September, I’ll be sharing my debut poetry collection Almost Loved — a raw yet hopeful exploration of trauma, survival, and self-love—at several bookish events.

Drawing from my experience as a former foster child and adoptee, my work confronts themes of abandonment, grief, and mental health, ultimately offering a message of resilience. Readers have called Almost Loved “raw, relatable, and hopeful.”

This September, I will:

  • Connect with readers at Tales and Trinkets Book Fairy Spruce Grove and a book signing at Chapters Edmonton Westside, Sept 21 to share my story of resilience.

  • At my events, I will be wearing a temporary semicolon tattoo on my wrist. A symbol adopted by suicide prevention advocates to symbolize the decisions to continue living and not ending one’s story.

  • I will be giving out free love notes at my events. A reminder YOU MATTER.

  • Launch #AlmostLovedAndStillHere, a campaign on Threads where I will share why I'm glad I'm still alive. I invite you to join me!

“My story is far from over. Through poetry, I’ve found a way to turn pain into something that connects, heals, and maybe even saves someone else.”
