On This Day We Are One With Nature

Welcome Victoria to day 6 of the Add Joy challenge! Last week was freezing in my neck of the woods and this week is shaping up to pretty decent (about -5 which in Canadian is basically summer weather). I hope wherever you are joining me from today, that you aren’t freezing!

What does joy mean to you?

Joy is feeling the sunshine on my face, as I savor the peace of the woods, moving my body to the rhythm of a bubbling creek.

How do you add joy to your life?

I add joy to my life by creating space each day to enjoy fresh air – whether a long hike with my dogs, kayaking on a lake, riding, biking, or simply a few minutes sitting out on the porch with a favorite book or cup of coffee.

Today’s Add Joy Challenge

Spend time in nature today. Even if you have a busy schedule, carve out time – even if it’s just five minutes to start with – get outdoors. This could be going on a walk to move your body or it could simply be sitting still with a warm beverage of choice, noticing what you are feeling, seeing, smelling, hearing, and tasting. This is a simple exercise but can be very grounding in the midst of a chaotic day.

Thank you Victoria. I used to hate winter. Really hate the cold until I started a weekly walking book club. It didn’t take long to start looking forward to being outside in nature and with friends even in -20 weather. It made winter a lot more fun not being couped up inside all day.
